Understand your financial position
Understand the relationship between what you own, what you owe and the amount available to you.
Read what makes up your position, rather than relying on one total. Equity is the value left after debts; it does not tell you how much cash is available to spend.
Check what is included
Open Assets + Liabilities on desktop or Net Worth in the mobile app. Confirm the intended assets and debts are there.
Check values and relationships
Use reasonable current values and check related assets and liabilities. Correct an item before interpreting the summary.
Read what remains
Compare what you own with what you owe. Where availability is shown, distinguish accessible money from value tied up in longer-term assets.
You’re finished when…
You can explain what makes up your net position and why it differs from available cash.
Reading the mobile views
Balance sheet compares the value of assets and liabilities. Equity cards shows related assets and debts together. Both describe the same underlying position from different angles.
Why this works
A home can contribute to net worth while providing little readily available cash. Understanding that distinction helps you read the picture; it is not a recommendation to sell, borrow or invest.
